A Little Retro....v8723

I love the "Mad Men style" that's been all over the blogs as of late, and I've been itching to make something retro or vintage. Of course I do have a few vintage frocks that's been thrifted and gifted to me from my Mom (she's a true collector). The funny thing is,... I've had this pattern for a minute, but never realized until I was re-organizing my stash closet, that I had almost the exact same fabric that's on the envelope!!

I think this style of dress lends a vintage, retro vibe to it. Ok, well yes it does have a lot of gathering to it, as mentioned in many reviews but I think it adds to the look. I mean wearing it, causes occasional involuntary twirl walking, skipping (followed by a little dizziness, lol) but I feel so darn dainty!!

I didn't notice when I got it, but it has different cup sizes which is always welcomed, but I must say the bodice runs a little big. You may consider sizing down if you try this one out, to be honest you may even go down a cup size too! Notice how the bodice isn't flat against my chest.

All in all, I think it's pretty well drafted, so no alterations were made.(although I would size down the next time) The dress is completely lined in cool white cotton, and I used an invisible zip. Did I mention the pockets? Love them!  I should have put my belt on with this, it really breaks up the print but, oh well dang...

It's a fun summery dress, and it definitely wont be my last retro spin! I have a nice stash of vintage patterns I've collected off Etsy!! Uhm-hym. PR review is here.
